Job Description
Perform work om new and existing electrical systems. Perform maintenance on low voltage and high voltage systems. Ability to perform asbestos removal/abatement on existing wiring systems. Perform utility scanning in accordance with local procedures and document findings for upcoming excavation work on site. Respond to trouble calls related to immediate electrical system issues to help maintain continuity of operations. Identify and develop improvements to existing facilities or methods of operation.
Essential Duties
• Determine material requirements and select appropriate materials to perform a job.
• Plan, layout, and perform the complete installation of electrical and electronic equipment and circuits, including high voltage equipment, apparatus and circuits, interrelated drive motors, speed controls, and intricate relay circuits applicable to plant maintenance.
• Assist in layout and install medium voltage power distribution and transmission lines from substations.
• Determine maximum power loads and make installations accordingly.
• Test and install instruments, switches, switchgear, panelboards, and control devices applicable to plant maintenance.
• Diagnose, plan, and perform complete overhauls and major repairs on electrical equipment and apparatus.
• Know thoroughly and apply all state and local regulations covering the installation and repair of electrical equipment to meet applicable electrical codes.
• Diagnose and correct phasing of interfacing systems.
• Perform incidental work outside the electrical craft jurisdiction which can be accomplished in a safe manner, within a minimal time frame, with minimal training.
• Perform preventive maintenance of applicable plant electrical systems to maintain continuity of operations.
• Perform utility scans in accordance with manufacturer's instruction and local procedure.
Additional General Responsibilities
• Follow general established procedures and select appropriate tools and materials
• Follow rough engineering sketches and detailed complex drawings.
• Maintain clean, safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, and handling and disposing of hazardous chemicals and waste.
• Must be able to qualify and maintain qualifications including but not limited to asbestos worker, radiological contamination worker, silica worker, and other industrial hygiene areas as necessary.
• Perform work in accordance with applicable safety, environmental, radiological, and security requirements.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
High school or vocational school graduate or the equivalent with the ability to read, write and perform general mathematics of the variety usually learned in a high school or vocational school course. Must pass a periodic physical examination.
AND
Completion of a state accredited skilled trades program resulting in an educational degree or equivalent in the field of this position with 4 years of experience
OR
Completion of a state approved certified apprenticeship program resulting in qualification of Journeyman or equivalent in the field of this position with 4 years of experience.
Preferred Skills
- Preferred to possess a Journeyman qualification from a recognized trade union in the field of this position.

Pay Range
Jobs categorized as subject to a collective bargaining agreement will adhere to the pay rates, wage increases, progression schedules, and other parameters identified and negotiated in said agreements. Wages and other compensation details are subject to change based negotiated changes to the collective bargaining agreements.
