Job Description

Submarine Core Design offers unique opportunities to perform structural evaluations of complex components in support of the operating fleet.  There is a large variety of different analyses performed in support of our hardware, which provides a significant learning opportunity.  Analyses are performed using commercial codes, such as ABAQUS, in-house developed codes, and hand calculations.  Also, there is a mix of long-term projects and quick turn-around tasks.  The successful candidate will have ownership of their analyses and the necessary interactions with all stakeholders.  There is a large amount of interfacing with other organizations, which will require the successful candidate to coordinate their efforts with these groups.  This will also provide an increased opportunity for learning as it will expose the successful candidate to other disciples such as materials science and thermal-hydraulic performance.  The unit actively supports the fleet through performance of work efforts such as continued use evaluations, service life extension requests, and updating design analyses.
