The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy’s submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since 1946. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory has nearly 8,000 employees working at primary locations in Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, and Idaho. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory also has an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations around the globe. We are dedicated solely to the support of the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC, a wholly own a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
Do you want to work in a dynamic environment that focuses on heat exchanger technology development and insertion to provide step-change benefits to Naval Nuclear Propulsion plants This team has a diverse background in design, material development & testing, thermal-hydraulic modeling & testing and maufacturability assessments, while also teaming with organizations within NNL, BPMI, commercial vendors and shipyards to maximize system benefits and cost savings. The unit is seeking a driven, team player with a multi-disciplinary skillset to advance the unit mission. The ideal candidate will bring design, systems operation, structural capability and thermal-hydraulic awareness, combined with an open mind to apply out-of-the-box solutions to challenge paradigms while developing technically-sound hardware designs. The selected candidate will apply design principles and perform first-principles engineering evaluations and analyses and make engineering decisions for all aspects of assigned design responsibility. Cognizant areas beyond design, may include modeling, analyzing, documenting and testing of mechanical components, systems and equipment. Work may include planning chemical or materials evaluations, design reviews, operations support, safety analysis, engineering methods and software development, and analysis of vendor's procedures and systems for quality control or manufacturing surveillance.
