Job Description

The Future Irradiations Testing (FIT) unit is a newly created organization charged with setting the direction of the Naval Nuclear Laboratory’s (NNL) future irradiation testing needs that are currently fulfilled by the Advanced Test Reactor. The unit is seeking a highly motivated professional to help develop, administer, and maintain various project management instruments, processes, and forums in support of this effort. The chosen candidate will be responsible for supporting the technical stakeholders and FIT lead engineer in development of functional and operational requirements for future NNPP irradiation testing and examinations, as well as coordinating and integrating diverse technical input into key decisions, project plans, recommendations, and presentations. The candidate will also conduct project planning, develop corresponding work plans and schedules, measure and report on project performance, perform risk analysis and mitigation, support management and stakeholder reviews, mentor junior project support personnel, and facilitate effective communication with all project stakeholders. The candidate should be particularly skilled at being able to visually represent large amounts of complex information in a clear, intuitive manner. This integrator role will work on a large team and collaborate with a diverse set of teammates and stakeholders. The successful candidate will work closely with the project technical lead, the FIT lead engineer, and the Program Manager to help coordinate, maintain, and communicate daily TTRC work activities for multiple stakeholder organizations and disciplines with cognizant personnel across NNL, Naval Reactors, and the larger team. This position works directly with other project managers/analysts to integrate TTRC needs in accordance with approved priorities and resource availability, ensure deliverables support schedule needs, resolve administrative issues, and support the adjustment of schedules to accommodate emergent changes. There is a strong teleworking component associated with this position. Occasional travel, particularly among the NNL program sites at Pittsburgh, Schenectady, and Idaho Falls, may be required.
