Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an experienced Engineer to join our Nuclear Materials Management & Criticality Control (NMM&CC) team in West Mifflin, PA!

The NMM&CC unit fosters safe, efficient, and effective Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) and Material Control and Accountability (MC&A) programs for the Bettis, Knolls, and Kesselring sites.  NMM&CC is seeking an individual to actively work with the operations, engineering, oversight, and security communities to build and maintain a robust NCS and MC&A program. The NMM&CC Engineer should be proficient with NCS and MC&A requirements which they will use to provide reviews, mentoring, classroom teaching and qualification, and assess and document community performance to those requirements.

As part of this role, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to observe work in progress, conduct interviews, review records, inspect equipment and facilities, follow-up on previously identified problems, work independently on projects, author and publish findings, observations, and improvement recommendations, meeting strict schedules and deadlines, balancing multiple duties and responsibilities simultaneously, and report nuclear material inventory at the Bettis, Knolls, and Kesselring sites. The selected candidate will also gain familiarity with the interpretation and application of regulatory requirements (e.g., NRC, DOE, etc.).
