About Us

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy’s submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since 1946. Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) Core Manufacturing (CM) department is looking for an engineer to join its Manufacturing & Inspection Development team! This highly motivated and independent team researches advanced technologies to improve the quality, cost, and efficiency of naval core manufacture. This hands-on position will provide opportunities for you to research new manufacturing processes, purchase equipment, perform feasibility testing, and fabricate test hardware. You’ll also have the opportunity to modernize manufacturing processes through development and testing of new inspection technologies. Put your engineering experience to work for NNL!

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

BS degree in engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or
MS degree in engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Manufacturing engineering experience
  • Core Manufacturing experience
  • Process control and/or automation experience
  • Non-destructive testing experience
  • Materials testing experience
  • Ability to communicate technically complex issues to a wide audience
  • Ability to plan and execute work independently

Pay Range

$82,600 - $123,800 annually

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
